Raped, Pregnant, Unwanted and Sold
She stood on the auction block completely disgusted with herself, Her body smelled of sweat and dirt as it had been, what seemed like an eternity, since she was last able to bathe. Her dark hair was matted as her scalp itched intensely from the lice that had taken up residence in her hair. Her face had aged and made her appear ten years older.
The blisters and scabs on her feet oozed a yellow liquid that spilled onto the rotten planks below them. The metal shackles around her feet and wrists had left her skin broken and raw. She thought back to the time they had first put them on. It had hurt so badly until she finally became numb to the pain.
Her lips were dry and cracked, always thirsting for water. Her eyes were blank and had lost the sparkle that was once inside. Her tattered clothes were merely rags that exposed most of her left chest and breast.
Humiliated and ashamed, a flood of memories raced through her head. She thought about the first time she was sold to a man who had raped her every day for a month. Each time she had vomited violently. She had become pregnant twice. Both times, the monster who held her captive had forced her to have an abortion. He tied her down and ripped the life from her body. She shook uncontrollably both times and screamed out experiencing indescribable pain.
The man had finally grown tired of her and took her back and threw her into the hands of the auctioneer after finding out she was with child again. Her frail and thin body exposed the truth as the bump in her abdomen grew. He didn't care to make any money off of her. At this point, he just wanted to rid himself of her. Her black eyes illustrated the anger he had felt when he found out her news.
Suddenly, she was jolted out her thought life when the auctioneer jerked her forward by her chain. The fear she had inside of her controlled her. She wondered if anyone would purchase her. And if they didn't she would be killed.
As the auctioneer opened the floor for bids, she scratched her scalp and peered out just enough from her stringy locks to get a glimpse of the hungry wolves in the crowd waiting to purchase their meat. One man jeered, "I' wouldn't trade my pig for her." The crowd laughed. She had never gotten used to humiliation she felt. It always coursed through her veins making her head and heart hurt.
No one wanted this women. She was too dirty. She had been used and abused too much. Was this the last day of her life? The thought simultaneously thrilled her and terrified her.
Suddenly, a man stepped forward in the sunlight saying, "Name your price. I will pay it." Confusion swarmed the crowd and people began to mutter, "Is he blind?" "This man is certainly mad," another man whispered.
The auctioneer gazed at the girl and then at this man who had stepped forward to claim the girl no one else wanted. Out of spite, the auctioneer named a price so high that he didn't expect this mystery man from the crowd to be able to afford it.
"I will pay it and anything else you ask of me. I will give you my life for this one.," the man added.
Shocked, the auctioneer yelled out, "SOLD."
Tears began to fill the girl's eyes as she imagined what her future might look like. She tried to get a look at the man who had purchased her. She didn't know what he could possibly want with her. And it was obvious she was pregnant. Surely he had noticed.
She gently rubbed her wrists as the shackles were unlocked and she was placed into the hands of another man she did not know or trust. She noticed a gentleness in his eyes that she didn't quite understand.
Silently, she followed the man to his home where he offered her a bath, clean clothing, food and a soft bed to rest her head. She was confused as the man bandaged her wounds and offered her fresh water. She felt a peace in his presence that she didn't quite understand.
After being in his care for several days, she could tell the man meant her no harm. She finally felt safe enough to ask him, "Why did you purchase me? Can't you see I am worthless and with child?"
He looked at her and said, "You, my love, and the life you carry inside your womb are worth more than gold."
Stunned, she asked, "Who are you?" He smiled and replied, "I am called Jesus. I've come to show our Father's love."
Friends, I don't know what kind of mess you find yourself in today. I don't know the monsters in your closet or the things you have done. I don't know the things that have been done to you. You may feel filthy, unworthy, unclean, unwanted and afraid. The only thing I do know is that no mess is too big for Jesus. He wants to take your situtation and turn it around for your good. He wants to show you a love so big that you get so lost in him that you forget about your past. He wants to forgive you and set you free. He has already made the ultimate sacrifice for you. He paid the price long ago so that you might have life and have it more abundantly. When no one else wants you, He does!
If you have never given him your life, all you have to do is pray this prayer, "Father, I admit that I am a sinner. I'm asking you to forgive me of my sins. I believe that Jesus was born of a virgin, died on the cross for my sins and arose from the grave. I completely surrender my life to you. I want you to be my Lord and Savior. In Jesus' name. Amen."
**If you prayed that prayer for the first time, will you let me know. Or if you knew the Lord at one time but you don't know Him or have a relationship with Him like you once cherished, please tell me so I can pray for and with you.
