New Measurements
Have you ever had someone hurt you deeply? I have. Have you ever had a hard time forgiving someone even though you knew you had to do so? I have.
When someone hurts us, it can be hard to forgive and even harder to forget. What if the person who hurt us made a mistake and has legitimately changed? Do you still hold the wrong they did to you over their heads?
I read a book recently where the author told a story of a man who said his favorite person was a tailor? Why? "Because, my tailor takes new measurements of me every time I see him," he laughed.
Isn't that so good? It's exactly what our heavenly Father does for us and what we should do for one another. God takes new measurements of us every morning. What marvelous grace! Makes me want to shout!
"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23
If we mess up, Jesus is there to love us and redeem us not squash us. None of us get it right all the time. No, not one. But we should strive, every day, to live and love more like Jesus.
May we be more like the tailor--better yet--may we be more like Jesus and take new measurements and pour out new mercies every morning on those around us.
Thank you, Lord, for your amazing, unending, never failing grace!
