Creativity and Feet
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27
My oldest is very creative, but he wasn't feeling it lately. For three days, he would say to me, "I don't feel creative." It was making him sad.
We had a talk about our identity not coming from what we could do, and we talked about not letting our emotions control us. Feelings can't always be trusted. A hard lesson to learn for some.
Still he said sadly and repeatedly, "But I don't feel creative."
"Lord, help me," I pleaded. He was wearing me down.
Ask him this, I heard in my spirit, "Isaiah, do you have feet?"
Isaiah looked confused, "Ummm, yeah."
"Do you always use your feet? When you're lying in bed watching t.v., are you using your feet?"
"Ummm, no." He answered looking at me like I had lost my ever loving mind.
"Since you're not using your feet, does it mean you don't have any feet?"
Isaiah laughed, "No." He saw where I was going.
"Okay, just because you're not using your creativity every second of every day doesn't mean you don't have any. It's still a part of your gifts and talents. It's there when you need it--just like your feet," I replied.
He was finally satisfied.
I wonder how many people don't "feel" a certain way, and they let feelings rob them of their calling. Or they believe a lie, "You have no talent. You have nothing to offer."
We ALL have gifts, talents and callings just like we all have feet, and just like feet, it's up
to us whether or not we use them.
Happy Sunday!
