Paul warns us to be aware of Satan’s schemes in 2 Corinthians. The demonic trap is subtle. It usually involves us attacking one another. It invites us to fight for justice. But in a way that drains our soul and undermines our faith. The battle we think we are waging for truth becomes a battleground where our own peace and sanity are at risk. But God does not ask us to entangle ourselves in this aimless struggle. Instead, he offers a way out. A path of discernment and surrender by stepping away and giving the situation to him equals us avoiding the trap and preserving our soul.
The Biblical path calls us to break unhealthy bonds, resist co- dependency and entrust the situation to God’s hands. God does not call us to endlessly confront those who refuse to change, instead, He invites us to guard our hearts and set boundaries that protect our worth in His eyes.
As believers, we aren't meant to live in bondage to other people's ideas and opinions of us. We are to live in the truth of who we are in Christ. Non-believers won't understand. We are to build our lives on solid rock and not shifting sand. We aren't meant to change with the wind. We aren't meant to change our narrative to protect the facade of superiority.
When we resist the urge to fix what only God can heal, we step into the freedom that He alone can give.
