God Goes Before Me

This morning, David and I headed to church. As we traveled down our long driveway, we come up on a large branch which had fallen across the driveway during the storms yesterday.

David drives a truck, and could have easily cleared the branch. But he stopped, got out, and moved it out of the roadway, specifically mentioning, “I don’t want Isaiah to run that over in his car.”

Isaiah hadn’t left, yet, but David cleared the way for him and anyone else coming along. I told David, “You’re a good Dad.”

Immediately, I thought about the times God has gone before me and cleared the way, and I was none the wiser. Isaiah never knew the branch was ever there.

I’m sure the number of things God has protected me from far outweigh the number of things He has allowed me to go through. Each time I go through life’s challenges, my roots grow deeper into the soil of His mercies, grace, and love.

Tonight, whatever you’re facing, may your faith be big as you reflect on the one who makes a way when the road looks blocked. He’s clearing the road on your behalf. His ways are higher. He’s doing a new thing. He is the alpha and omega. He is the finisher of your faith.

And if you still have breath in your lungs, He’s not finished.

I leave you with this blessing that I am praying over anyone reading this :

“The Lord bless you

and keep you;

the Lord make his face shine on you

and be gracious to you;

the Lord turn his face toward you

and give you peace.”
