Don't Dismiss the Truth

I’ve been working through the book of Luke and had a “mind blown moment” when I covered Luke 8: 16-18.

In verse 18, Jesus says, "Therefore consider carefully how you listen. Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them".

Every time we dismiss or deny truth, the less we will recognize the lies. It’s imperative believers stay as “wise as serpents but gentle as doves” in this world. (Matthew 10:16) We should be known by how we navigate difficult situations with equal parts wisdom and gentleness. Pure hearts produce fruits which make others say, “Taste and see that the Lord is good.”

Lord, I repent for times I have denied truth for the sake of comfort. I never want to be desensitized to the truth or to your Word. Purify my heart and mind allowing me to discern what is true, noble and right. Help my light for you to shine as your light illuminates my darkest spaces. Help me to be as wise as a serpent but as gentle as a dove.

Luke 8:16–18

"No one lights a lamp and hides it under a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a lampstand, so that those who enter may see the light.

For nothing is hidden that will not be disclosed, nor is anything secret that will not become known and come to light.

Then pay attention to how you listen; for to those who have, more will be given; and from those who do not have, even what they seem to have will be taken away.”
